Renault Port is the official mobile application for Renault owners, bringing together the services they need throughout the ownership journey.
From booking a service appointment and viewing vehicle history to tracking maintenance progress and communicating with authorised dealerships, the app helps users manage everything from a single place.
As the Product Designer, I focused on the service booking experience, service tracking and vehicle management flows.
What made this project particularly interesting wasn't just the feature set, but the scale of the product.
- Over 1 million users
- 1.2 million connected vehicles
- More than 650,000 active users every year
- More than 220,000 service appointments booked through the app
At this scale, even small improvements have a meaningful impact on everyday user experience.
01
Understanding the challenge
Booking a service appointment sounds straightforward.
In reality, users need answers to several questions throughout the process.
Which dealership is available?
What's the earliest appointment?
Has my booking been confirmed?
Where is my vehicle in the service process?
How will I know when it's ready?
When these answers are scattered across different screens, the experience quickly becomes frustrating.
My goal was to design a journey where users always understand what's happening next.
02
Simplifying service booking
I redesigned the booking flow around three simple steps:
Choose a vehicle.
Select the required service.
Book a time directly from the dealership's real availability.
Instead of generic date pickers, the experience is built around live dealership schedules, allowing users to book appointments that actually exist.
Large touch targets, chip-based selections and inline validation help keep the flow fast and comfortable, especially on mobile devices.

03
Designing around the vehicle
Adding a vehicle with a VIN or licence plate is more than a registration step.
It unlocks the rest of the experience.
Users can access their service history, upload documents before appointments, review previous maintenance records and quickly find dealership information.
Rather than treating these as separate features, I designed them as connected parts of a single ownership journey.
04
Making service progress visible
Once an appointment is booked, the biggest challenge becomes uncertainty.
Instead of leaving users wondering about the status of their vehicle, I designed a single, consistent progress model.
Request received.
Scheduled.
In service.
Ready for collection.
Users can follow the entire journey from one screen without needing to contact the dealership simply to ask for updates.

05
Information without opening the app
One of my favourite parts of the project was integrating iOS Live Activities into the service experience.
Users can check the current status of their vehicle directly from the lock screen without opening the application.
A small feature, but one that makes the experience feel much more immediate and effortless.

06
Keeping actions where they belong
Cancelling or rescheduling an appointment shouldn't require learning a new workflow.
Instead of moving users into separate journeys, I integrated those actions directly into the appointment status screen.
The experience stays consistent while reducing unnecessary navigation.
07
Outcome
For me, Renault Port wasn't simply about redesigning service appointments.
It was about making one of the most important moments in vehicle ownership easier to understand.
Every design decision aimed to reduce uncertainty, simplify decision-making and help users complete tasks with greater confidence.
08
What I learned
Working on a product at this scale reinforced an important lesson.
The bigger the audience, the more valuable clarity becomes.
A small improvement to a single screen may seem insignificant in isolation.
When repeated hundreds of thousands of times, it becomes a meaningful improvement to the overall product experience.
